Overview

We invite guests from across the accounting profession to a discussion of the historical trends and challenges faced by Black CPAs and how the accounting profession can encourage more future Black CPAs. Dr. Theresa Hammond, author of "A White-Collar Profession: African American Certified Public Accountants since 1921," and Dr. Adrian Mayse, author of the inspirational children’s book, "When I Grow Up I Want To Be An Accountant," will discuss their books as well as their hopes for a more diverse accounting profession. Drawing on their personal experiences and knowledge of the profession, the authors will have a candid discussion in celebration of Black History Month with moderator and Surgent Fellow, Dr. Kelly Richmond Pope.
