Alabama CPAs must complete 40 hours annually of continuing professional education (CPE), including 2 hours of ethics, during the reporting period (10/1 to 9/30 annually). The license renewal deadline is Sept. 30 annually.
Annual CPE requirements
Further stipulations for each yearly CPE reporting period include:
- Completing at least 8 hours of accounting and auditing CPE
- Completing at least 2 hours of qualifying ethics CPE
- No more than 12 hours of behavioral CPE
- No more than 10 hours of CPE earned by Nano Learning delivery method
Renewing your Alabama CPA license
All Alabama CPAs must complete their CPE by September 30 each year. CPE must be reported by Dec. 31 each year. Annual permit renewal and associated fees are due by Dec. 31 each year.
Alabama ethics CPE
Alabama requires at least 2 hours of qualifying ethics CPE annually. CPAs can fulfill this requirement with board-approved ethics courses focused on professional standards and conduct.
