Meet Your Instructor
Ken Kies
Ken Kies is a Washington insider with more than 40 years of experience in economic policy and tax legislation. He most recently served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Tax Policy, confirmed by the U.S. Senate in June 2025,
where he led Treasury's implementation of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) through July 2026.
Before his Senate confirmation, Kies was managing director of the Federal Policy Group LLC, and earlier in his career served as chief of staff of the U.S. Congress Joint Committee on Taxation. Over four decades, he has worked closely
with Congress and federal agencies to shape economic legislation -- a firsthand perspective few CPE instructors can offer.
"Ken brings a perspective very few instructors can offer: he was inside Treasury shaping the guidance practitioners are working to interpret right now. Getting him back in front of our learners, on a weekly basis, means CPAs and tax
professionals get faster, more informed insight into how federal tax policy is actually developing."
